TRAINING PLAN FAQ'S

Here you will find some common questions and information that will help you purchase, set up and use your plan within the TrainingPeaks® platform.

BUYING A TRAINING PLAN

When you click on the "Buy Now" buttons on our site you will be taken to the secure TrainingPeaks site to complete your purchase. Here you can view some sample sessions from the plan as well as read the protection offered by TrainingPeaks® refund policy. Once you are ready, click on the "Buy Now" button and complete your purchase. If you are not already registered with TrainingPeaks it will prompt you to sign up for a free TrainingPeaks account. You may want to consider the option of paying for a Premium TrainingPeaks account (details about differences here).

HOW TO APPLY YOUR PLAN 

All training plans by Romero Performance are reusable so you can apply and use as many times as you wish. They are  designed to begin your training start day on a Monday, so try to apply your plan from the first available Monday.  For details on how to apply your plan follow this link to view TrainingPeaks guide.

TRAININGPEAKS® BASIC OR PREMIUM ACCOUNT?

TrainingPeaks® offer a free account and a paid for premium level account. The training plans we sell can be used with both options.  You should note however, that some advanced features such as moving scheduled training sessions around or viewing some of the graphs to track your training and fitness progression are not available on the free account.  The differences between the two account levels are explained on the Training Peaks site here.

 

If you are wanting to purchase a TrainingPeaks® premium account then check out your sports governing body as many offer discounts for TrainingPeaks® as part of your membership. E.g. British Cycling,  British Triathlon, USA Cycling, USA Triathlon,  

ENTERING THRESHOLDS IN TRAINING PEAKS

Using TrainingPeaks® enables you to tailor your training plan to be specific to your fitness level.  This is done by entering  data such as heart rate, pace, or power output relevant to your personal threshold level   Some of our plans have been created using the Workout Builder tool. Based on the personal threshold data you input, this creates structured workouts which automatically adjust the prescribed workout intensities to be bespoke to you.  A link to show you how to enter your threshold figure can be found here.

EXPORTING TRAINING SESSIONS TO YOUR DEVICES

REUSING YOUR PLAN

All Romero Performance plans are all reusable and have no time limit on using them.  This offers you great value for money.  To reuse just apply the plan again.

TERMINOLOGY

With advances in scientific understanding of human physiology, its application to training and the associated terminology has become very complex.  Below are some of the commonly used terms you will come across in Romero Performance training plans and on TrainingPeaks with a brief description and link to help you learn more.

  • TSS - Training Stress Score is a calculated number that uses a combination of the duration and intensity of a training session to give a figure of the overall training load and physiological stress from it.  Read more here.
     

  • CTL - Chronic Training Load is a rolling average of your daily TSS score.  If you are consistently completing workouts then your CTL should rise as you become fitter.  CTL is basically a measure of your fitness.  Read more here.
     

  • FTP - Functional Threshold Power is the best average power an athlete can produce in one hour.  Read more here.
